WHAT IS CANNABIDOL OR CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a plant cannabinoid commonly found in hemp and cannabis plants. It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids discovered in the cannabis plant.  What makes CBD unique, however, is that it shares many of the beneficial effects of THC without any of the mind-altering, intoxicating effects. As a result, CBD is surging in popularity as a way to reap the health benefits of marijuana without experiencing the intoxicating high.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

CBD interact with our bodies in a variety of ways. One of the main ways it impact us is by mimicking and augmenting the effects of the compounds in our bodies called “endogenous cannabinoids” – so named because of their similarity to the compounds found in the cannabis plant. These “endocannabinoids” are part of a regulatory system called the “endocannabinoid system.”

The discovery of the endocannabinoid system has significantly advanced our understanding of health and disease. It has significant implications for nearly every area of medical science and helps to explain how and why CBD is such a versatile biologic compound.

WHAT ARE ENDOCANNABINOIDS?

Cannabidiol or CBD is a naturally occurring compound found in hemp and cannabis plants. Use of CBD goes back thousands of years for the treatment of various -bodily conditions. Did you know that CBD may benefit prostate and bladder health?

Many researchers and health care providers are starting to realize the remarkable therapeutic properties of CBD – a truly multifunctional natural wonder-compound. CBD works by mimicking the body’s natural-cannabinoids or “endocannabinoids.” which have been shown to have a definite effects in regulating the genitourinary system, including prostate and bladder.

CBD acts upon CB1 and CBD2 receptors located throughout the body to produce a variety of potentially positive outcomes. CBD does not bind directly to either of these receptors but instead impacts them indirectly. These indirect actions include activating TRPV1 Receptors that work to control various essential functions. By stimulating the endocannabinoid system, CBD promotes homeostasis or balance in our body.

HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE DAILY?

Due to the full range of use-cases uses for CBD, appropriate serving sizes can vary widely. Your serving size will be dependent upon your body weight, metabolism, individual body chemistry, and other metabolic factors. CBD is a very personalized supplement and recommended approach is to start by taking a smaller amount of CBD for a few days to allow it to build up in your body. Most importantly, CBD is not addictive and one cannot overdose. Daily dosage of 5 to 10 mg is a good start and adjust accordingly.

DIRECTIONS FOR CONSUMPTION.

For Bladder Calm with CBD, Take 2 capsules daily with or without a meal as a health supplement.  For Prostateguard Plus with CBD, take 2-4 capsules daily with or without a meal.  Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place.  Do not use if seal is broken and contact us.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP EXTRACT VERSUS HEMP OIL?

The difference between hemp oil and extract is that they sound similar but they are actually very different.  Hemp seed oil is the oil that is derived from the hemp seed only.  The hemp seed oil does not contain any CBD and other cannabinoids. Therefore hemp oil is less expensive than cannabinoid rich hemp extract offering various health benefits.

Hemp extract comes from the parts ( stalks, stems and leaves)  of the hemp plant with highest concentrations of cannabidiol (CBD).  Products that are derived from hemp extract will contain all of the benefits of CBD.  We only use highest quality pure CBD isolate from hemp extract.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD ISOLATE VERSUS EXTRACT OIL?

CBD comes in many forms–from crystalline isolates to oil. CBD oil tinctures and isolates tend to be the most popular, however they differ from each other significantly.  Crystalline CBD isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form, up to 100%. It is what’s left after virtually everything else in the hemp plant—THC, terpenes, oil and chlorophyll—have been removed. This makes it the most potent form of CBD available. At room temperature, isolate is a tasteless, odorless white powder that can be vaporized or ingested orally.

CBD oil is the most common form of CBD and, in the case of full-spectrum extracts, is made using the entire hemp plant. The extract is combined with a carrier oil such as coconut and packaged in bottles with suction droppers for easy dosing.

CBD isolate’s potency and tastelessness make it a popular option among users who are either looking for a more immediate effect, or who dislike the hemp flavor associated with oils. CBD users who are worried about trace amounts of THC showing up in drug tests are encouraged to go with isolate as it contains less THC than oil (by definition, hemp plants contain a maximum of 0.3% THC).

All of the compounds found in cannabis, not just CBD, play an important role in the body. These people often cite a theory known as the entourage effect. It suggests that all the compounds found in hemp work synergistically to create an effect that could not be achieved by any one compound on its own. The entourage effect is a staple argument of those who believe in whole plant medicines over treatments which isolate the active ingredient. However, at this point in time, there isn’t enough scientific research to determine what impact, if any, the entourage effect has as it relates to CBD products.

Currently there is no evidence that illustrates How full spectrum CBD affects a person differently than isolates. currently there is no evidence. Until scientists can confirm what benefits come along with the added compounds of full spectrum products, the debate is mostly a matter of taste.

IS CBD PSYCHOACTIVE OR CAUSE "HIGH"?

CBD meets the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of being psychoactive. The WHO defines psychoactive substances as substances “that, when taken in or administered into one’s system, affect mental processes, e.g., cognition or effect.”
However, while this may be the case for CBD, it must be noted that CBD is non-intoxicating in its effects. It does not produce feelings of euphoria, stupor, or loss of control.

WHAT IS GRAPEFRUIT INTERACTION WITH CBD?

Research has shown that certain compounds in grapefruit can interact with many common pharmaceutical drugs by inhibiting the liver’s cytochrome P450 enzymes that process medications and supplements in our body. However, CBD can also inhibit these enzymes when consumed at high enough dosages.

We always recommend checking with your physician before starting a new dietary supplement program. Any instructions you may have received from a medical professional regarding grapefruit should be treated with the same level of care when it comes to CBD products.

OUR MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Our product is meticulously formulated and manufactured at FDA approved facility with final product testing, raw material testing, and label claim testing done in the certified lab using the some of the best testing methods on the market, including HPTLC. Double GMP certification facility ensures producing the highest quality and safest product available. Examples of testing parameters are:

  • Heavy Metal Analysis (ICP-MS)
  • Microbiology Analysis (Biolumix and 3M)
  • Identity Testing (HPTLC and FTIR and DNA Testing)
  • Potency Testing (HPLC)
  • Systemized Operations (GMP process on ERP)

The above heavy metals are the most frequent contaminants in food and food supplements. Lead is the leader in contamination (90%). Many manufacturers’ single point of focus in their lab is a microbiology plate reader from 3M (with Petri film). This instrument is entirely unsatisfactory for use on herb, and It does not work for two reasons: (1) antimicrobial metabolites or chemicals in the samples require the chemists to dilute the sample to a level that makes the results unreliable; (2) the color of the samples get in the way of reading the plates, i.e. turmeric.

Our manufacturer uses the 3M system for analyzing chemicals for microbiology contamination. Testing herbs for identity are essential. The most appropriate method per USP is the high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC). Even if DNA testing has a fancy appeal, it, unfortunately, does not work when it comes to identifying herbal supplements. The following statement from USP (US Pharmacopeial Convention) urges people to not rely on DNA testing, stating, “DNA-based methods are not suitable for materials, such as botanical extracts, that subjected to processes that denature, degrade and destroy DNA.” Our manufacturer checks every herbal batch with an HPTLC onsite. HPTLC is the premium test equipment for identity tests. Many hemp-derived CBD products being mislabelled and poorly processed CBD product may be tainted with toxic solvent residues, pesticides, corn syrup, artificial flavors and colors, and other contaminants.

What is decarboxylation?

CBD naturally occurs in the hemp plant as Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA). CBDA is relatively biologically inactive due to the presence of a carboxyl group (COOH), or acid, composed of a carbon atom bonded to an oxygen atom and a hydroxyl group. Decarboxylation is a heat-catalyzed chemical reaction that decomposes CBDA into CBD, by releasing the carbon dioxide. This conversion process increases the bioavailability of CBD. Decarboxylation is an essential aspect of the CBD extractions process, wherein exposure to moderate temperatures for an extended period of time activates the therapeutic benefits of CBD for optimal uptake by receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system, without degrading terpenes and other beneficial compounds

What is Certificate of Analysis (COA)?

The analysis report displays the absolute sum of all Cannabinoids detected. A COA can be found in the product detail section along with final product analysis pertaining to specific batch. Test results for all Urotherapeutic products are located on the Test Results tab on the product’s page.

Will I test positive on a drug test if I use this product?

Our products comply with the federally mandated THC limit of less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. Certificate of analysis for our CBD indicates 100 % THC free, but this does not mean a positive test is impossible. Drug tests are not uniform and the THC threshold that would yield a positive result is also not uniform. Urocananbis, LLC holds no liability for any positive effects results on a drug test. We highly recommend not using CBD products if this is a concern to you.

IS CBD LEGAL?  IS CBD FULLY LEGAL IN THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE IT'S NO LONGER A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE.?

CBD oil made from hemp is legal to purchase and use everywhere in the United States and is the primary source of CBD supplements.  However,  the 2018 Farm Bill legalized the cultivation of industrial hemp (defined as cannabis with less than 0.3 percent THC) in the United States and removed various derivatives of hemp, including CBD, from the purview of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Controlled Substances Act. But the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) views CBD as a pharmaceutical drug. And because it has already approved CBD as a pharmaceutical (Epidiolex) for treating two forms of pediatric epilepsy, the FDA maintains that it is illegal to sell hemp-derived CBD as a dietary supplement. The DEA, meanwhile, retains jurisdiction over CBD derived from marijuana (cannabis with more than 0.3 percent THC), which is still prohibited under federal law.  Prior to purchasing any CBD product, verify that it is third-party tested for potency. For more information regarding legality, it is encouraged that you consult with state’s laws, customs offices, and the local government of anywhere you travel to ensure your safety and regulatory compliance.

Is CBD legal in my state?

Under the 2018 Farm Bill and Agricultural Improvement Act, hemp-derived CBD is not regulated as a Schedule I controlled substance by the Drug Enforcement Agency. State jurisdictions vary, however, and additional restrictions may apply in your region. Urotherapeutics cannot offer legal advice so please consult with your local representative regarding the legality of any product prior to purchase. According to the World Population Review, in 2020:
